Recap – Sarah + Jarrett

I apologize upfront for not getting a “Preview” teaser up before Sarah + Jarrett’s Big Day! A week has gone by and I finally get a chance to sit down and do a full recap of Sarah + Jarrett’s amazing wedding day! I can’t remember a wedding day that started off so rough, but ended up so fabulous! Friday night, before the wedding, the families took time to set up the bulk of the reception in the pavilion style reception venue (with plastic dropdown sides for weather protection). Overnight, 60+ mph winds came through the area, ripped off an entire wall of dropdown siding and blew down much of the ceiling draperies, décor, etc. Saturday, the family and venue staff pulled together to get much of the setup back to normal, but a lot of time was lost in setup of final details, etc. I stepped in to assist with final setup, along with the rest of my coordinator duties, and with the entire team of family, friends, venue staff, and vendors’ effort, we pulled off one beautiful wedding. Kudos to the amazing team of vendors that day – we were able to avoid the looming rainclouds for the bulk of the day, run between raindrops when it did rain, and made it happen!

Congrats to Sarah + Jarrett on a beautiful wedding. It was a pleasure working with you and your family. It was also exciting for me to travel outside of my normal travel area to experience the beauty of Wittenberg University campus and work with some new and different A+ Vendors:

Even though we had to dodge rain clouds, Margaret and Pete had a fantastic wedding day! Margaret and Pete make an amazing couple – they are so cute together! These two have some amazing family and friends to celebrate with, along with a fabulous team of vendors to help pull this celebration together! I was extremely pleased with how this first wedding of the 2013 season turned out – I got to work with a number of vendors I had heard great things about and I was not disappointed! Preview – Margaret & Pete

Wow – it’s been a long time, but wedding season 2013 has finally arrived! I am very excited to kick off this year with a fabulous wedding for a great couple – Margaret and Pete. Margaret’s mother Jane actually contacted me last spring for my services, and I was excited to be hired as their Day of Coordinator! I am looking forward to working with several new and wonderful vendors and venues today, along with ensuring a stress free and beautiful wedding for Margaret and Pete! The Wedding rehearsal ran smoothly last night so lets continue that into today, shall we?

Recap – Rachel & James

Has a week + already passed since Rachel and James big day?! Where does time go? Sorry for the delay – let’s get right to it! Rachel and James had one threatening weather day, but somehow these two got a window of dryness to hold their ceremony outdoors just as they had wanted! I personally want to thank a number of Rachel and James’ friends and family (You know who you are!) for assisting with moving the ceremony from outdoors, to indoors, then back outdoors again! Their ceremony was perfectly unique to this “Bartlett Pair,” and I couldn’t be happier that these two had the day they dreamed of and planned for!

Immediately following the ceremony, all the guests headed into the rustic reception venue for a fantastic and fun wedding reception. Going into this wedding, I had not worked with any of the vendors Rachel and James had hired, but I was impressed with each and every one of the top-notch vendors there! Kudos to Rachel and James for planning a fabulous wedding and kudos to all the vendors for pulling it all together!

Today is the big day for Rachel and James! I met Rachel way back in 2009 when she was a bridesmaid at Val and Corey’s Wedding. It was so great to hear from her when she herself got engaged last year, and I am excited to be able to help pull the big day together for these two! Sorry for the delay – here is a full rundown of Alissa and Kevin’s Big Day! It was a humid one, and while storms were scattered throughout the area, the rain held off for these two! Recap – A Wedding Anniversary Party

I will start with an apology for my lack of blogging lately - I have been slacking alot lately! Life has a way of keeping us going in all directions, and this summer has been no exception! While several of my planned summer weddings got moved around on the calendar, I still had plenty to keep me busy these past few months!

I want to share one wedding-related highlight from my personal life this summer… My grandparents celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary this year, and together with 100 + of their closest family and friends, were able to gather in the Chicago area to celebrate this big milestone! Having 8 children, 25 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren (plus all the spouses!) – it was a great reason to have a mini-family reunion (and family photo - minus 8 immediate family members) as well!

Kudos to a number of family members for their creativity and party planning abilities for pulling off a wonderful anniversary party. There were a number of cute and simple ideas and personal touches used at the party that I thought would be worth sharing with my readers as well!

1) Check out this creative Directional Sign Post made from fence posts that were being torn down earlier this year. Each directional sign has either a relative’s name or a favorite/important destination painted on it, along with the distance from my grandparent’s home! It was a great conversation piece and unique touch!

2) Centerpieces were kept simple, yet the overall effect was beautiful! A variety of clear glass bud vases and mason jars displayed flowers from a relative’s garden or a few buds from simple mixed bouquets from the local grocery store. The customized wine bottle favors were placed around each centerpiece and created a nice display on each guest table.

3) This tradition would be a great one to start in your family! The cake topper used at my great-grandparent’s wedding in 1924 was kept and passed down through the years to various family members on their wedding days. The cake topper was kept in a box, along with a list documenting all the weddings and anniversary celebrations it was used at. It was so neat to see the list of family members that have used the cake topper over the years – I am sure it will get used at many more weddings to come!

Cheers to my grandparents on 65 years of marriage, and many thanks to all the family members that made the anniversary party and weekend great!
